Odoo 19 attendance: choose a kiosk method and correct missing punches

Applicability

Odoo 19 Attendances and employee records, with administrator setup and authorized officer/approver corrections. Confirm installed edition/app entitlement and device/browser access; no payroll, statutory overtime or device-compatibility result is claimed.

Research method

Research of official Odoo 19 documentation, including its published source where pages were unavailable; examples are fictitious editorial calculations. No new Odoo product testing, customer case study or hardware trial was performed.

First choose who needs a database login and who will use a shared kiosk. A name, badge or PIN identifies an employee; it does not grant permission to edit everyone’s attendance.

Choose the check-in method

PIN identification is optional; when enabled it is requested for manual kiosk selection. Badge/RFID usage needs an available kiosk, but not the Inventory Barcode app. The kiosk URL itself has no access code; protect it and regenerate it if exposed. Official kiosk settings.

Configure access without sharing an administrator login

An attendance administrator configures modes; an officer can manage records, while an assigned approver has a limited employee scope. Backend checking also depends on its setting. Official access rights. Set the device up as a kiosk rather than leaving an administrator’s working session open.

Worked example: a missing checkout

Fictitious Hong Kong shift, all times in Asia/Hong_Kong: an employee checked in at 09:00 and forgot to check out. The manager has evidence for a 18:00 finish and a separate unpaid break from 13:00 to 14:00.

The proposed corrected intervals are 09:00–13:00 = 4 hours and 14:00–18:00 = 4 hours, total 8 hours. One continuous 09:00–18:00 record would instead represent 9 elapsed hours. The break assumption must be confirmed, not silently subtracted from any single punch pair.

1. Find the affected employee/date, including error and automatic-checkout filters where relevant.
2. Compare the original punches with the employee’s explanation and approved supporting record.
3. Have an authorized person correct check-in/out, or add the missing interval; check for overlap.
4. Record the reason, evidence reference, original values and reviewer in the organization’s correction log.
5. Recheck calculated worked time and any overtime approval separately.

Authorized manual creation and editable check-in/out are documented in work approvals; attendance error filters help find records requiring review. A corrected duration does not determine wages or overtime entitlement.
